Turkey famous for its presence in both Europe and Asia and its unique culture derived from the Ottoman, European and Middle Eastern traditions has also a lot to offer for the adventure travelers.   In addition to many organized tours to places of historical and cultural relevance in the country such as Ephesus, Xanthos, Cappadocia, Kekova, you can find many active adventures in Turkey.

Turkey, surrounded by seas on its 3 sides, offers great sailing adventures.  You can discover the Turkish Riviera as well as plethora of archaeological sites, castles and temples.  Although there are many options for bare boat, we recommend the luxury gullet rentals while you are there.  Gulets are wooden motorsailers and there are many companies that charter gullets in Bodrum, Didim and Marmaris, Turkey’s most popular sailing regions.  Avid scuba divers can go on a once in a life time adventure and see the sunken city near Bodrum.  Other great diving sites are in Fethiye, Oludeniz, and Kas.  On your adventure trip in Bodrum, make sure to stop by the Museum of Underwater Archaeology. 

Travelers can easily opt for white water rafting in class III to V rapids in the Koprulu Canyon or the Çoruh River.  For a high altitude adventure, try mountain climbing or hiking on Mount Ararat  or skiing on Mount Erciyes and Mount Uludag.  

For more adventure travel, try out the Lycian Way, a wonderful stretch for trekking.  You might be trekking for a whole month if you want to cover this stretch!  Another great place for adventure hiking in Turkey is the Kaçkar Mountain range, which is considered thrillingly wild, even for a seasoned hiker.

When finishing off your adventure trip in Turkey, Pamukkale has some unique experiences to offer.  This is where you can bathe in some therapeutic hot springs and view the ancient city of Hierapolis.  After some adventure traveling, in Istanbul you could hang out in the busy shopping area of the Istanbul Grand Bazaar or you could sit atop the Galata Bridge and view the old town famous for its mosques, museums, and bazaars.  Or have a very different kind of experience by trying a steam bath in a hamam, which you can find in several places in Istanbul.
