Greece, the country that created the Olympics, is home to a wide range of adventure.  Greece offers history, culture, activities and relaxation all in one destination.

The Greek civilization is one of the oldest and the richest in the world and you can actually still set foot on many age-old relics that stand within the country. A historically inclined traveler should check out the Acropolis and visit historically rich islands such as Crete, Ithaki, Mykonos and Santorini.

Island hopping is a common tourist action in Greece.  The islands are surrounded by blue Aegean waters that host almost every water sporting adventure. Popular kayaking and windsurfing locations in the Greek Islands include Vasiliki in Lefkada, Kokkari on Samos, Kefalos on Kos or Lalisos on Rhodes. These beaches and islands are plush with frenetic sporting activity year round, perfect for an adventure trip. You can also find many sailing operators who will organize an island hopping trip and provide you with a skipper.  

More water sports adventure is found on the coast of  Attica where scuba diving is very popular.  A diver might even find some relics under the water, though it is illegal to keep them. In Crete, you can go cave diving in one of  6,000  caves, complete  with beautiful stalactites and stalagmites.

 A hiking adventure along the entire Samaria Gorge, which sprawls to 11.2 miles, is a must if only for its unique trails. For avid mountain bikers, trekkers and climbers, Mount Olympus is the dream destination for a challenging adventure!  Those who are ambitious and in great shape, can hike all the way to the summit of Mytikas, the highest peak on Mount Olympus, with the use of a few ropes and helmets. You can also visit the Naxos Island and challenge your mountain climbing skills at Mt. Zas, the highest peak in the Cyclades, or you can  hike through the famous Greek olive groves.

If you want a day off to rest your tired legs from a long hike or ski, you could simply take a wine tour or go wine tasting at one of the thousands of vineyards that you will find all over Greece. Chances are, you will pass by various vineyards as you trek through the length of the country, so don’t forget to take full advantage of the local flavors!
