Founder’s Message: Welcome to AvidBlog!

Editor

I founded AvidTrips after a series of frustrating booking experiences for horseback riding trips abroad. I spent countless hours searching for relevant tour operators, and then wiring payments to them with little assurance they actually existed. I was frustrated by my inability to get simple answers from the outbound operators. And I couldn’t connect with other riders who had actually experienced these trips. I knew there had to be a better way, but it turned out there wasn’t – until now. AvidTrips connects you directly with the trip operators, and delivers the accurate, first person information that you need to have a great adventure.

But I felt like something was still missing. I also wanted to create a place to share stories, adventurer’s exploits, expert opinions. A place to connect adventure travelers. I was excited to bring in Pam Mandel, the influential blogger behind Nerd’s Eye View. Pam is a freelance writer, a surviving guidebook author, and now, the editor of our new blog. Pam’s job is to make AvidBlog a place that inspires readers to explore.

The AvidTrips logo is based on a trail marker — the cairn. Historically, the cairn was a stack of stones that helped travelers find their way. Avid Trips wants to be your trail marker, the first place you in seeking your next great adventure. We hope the blog will be part of that, sparking your imagination and serving as a guide to your global explorations.

We’re new and growing and we want to hear from you. We welcome your feedback, your travel stories, your suggestions about what you’d like to see on this blog. We want to be a community for adventure travelers. Please contact us with your ideas.

Thanks for joining our adventure.
